Roger Harvey Moberly Obituary

Sadly, on February 21, 2025 at the age of 86, Roger passed away after losing the battle with Lewey Body Dementia and complications.

He was the only son of Ernest & Mildred Moberly. Roger was raised in, and remained a lifelong resident of, the Yakima Valley. He graduated from Yakima High. Roger met the love of his life, Paulette, when she was 9 years old. Roger waited for her and was in love with her from a very young age. On March 18th, 1961, Roger married Paulette Webb. Together they shared 60 years raising a family and enjoying the simple, down-to-earth life. Roger was extremely lost without his beloved by his side these last few years. His heart and thoughts longed to be with her every day.

Roger was employed by Yakima Tent & Awning for over 45 years. He worked in every aspect of that business and was well versed in designing and making all kinds of tents, tarps, awnings and picking bags. If you could dream it he could make it. His work was a source of pride for him. He was talented in building and designing all kinds of things. He loved gadgets and was constantly buying the latest gadgets for his family and friends. He would comment on how ingenious people were to design such things to improve people's lives. He was a great supporter of local businesses and buying American made things. He has been seen with various bumper stickers on his vehicles that said, "Hungry, out of work, eat your foreign car" or "My car, my wife are American made."

Roger was a Lifetime Member of the NRA. He was a huge advocate of people handling and using firearms properly. For 2 decades he bought a few tables at NRA banquets so family members and friends could join him. He constantly supported the NRA and protected our right to bear arms whenever he was called.

Roger loved to hunt, camp, go mushrooming and go fishing. He was an avid outdoorsman all his life. He had many adventures with friends and family. Roger would share memories with whoever listened. Those tales would bring much laughter and joy to all. He instilled a love of the outdoors and hunting to his three children and then the grandchildren who wanted to learn. His dream was that his great-grandchildren would learn to love hunting and the outdoors like he did. There wasn't a day that went by that Roger didn't worry about the new generations coming up and wonder if they would learn how to take care of the land and the wildlife so future generations could enjoy the outdoors.

Roger and his wife were very generous people to so many. Some never knew who gave a gift to them. When he saw a need arise, he would help in what way he could. Many times, he would grab his tools and go help someone. He would take cases of bottled water to the firefighters that were fighting fires in our mountains. Flowers were sent to encourage the sad and discouraged. He never walked into a dinner he was invited to at someone's house, without flowers and a pie, or ice cream. Roger was very loyal to the ones he loved and cared for. If you were in Roger's circle of close friends and family, you were in a unique spot. You were never off his watchful guard.

Roger is proceeded in death by both his parents Ernie & Millie, his beloved wife, Paulette, and his son, James. Roger is survived by his sister, Sharon Brittingham, two children Joel Moberly, Lonnie & Shelly (Moberly) Friedrich, 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Roger's life will be celebrated along with his wife Paulette's at Stone Church in Yakima on April 21st at 1:00pm. Roger & Paulette wanted to be buried together and celebrated together, because they were so intertwined as a couple.
