Robert "Bob" Caldwell Obituary

Yakima, WA - Robert "Bob" Caldwell, age 77, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025. Born on November 4, 1947, in Denver, Colorado, to William G. Caldwell and Bette J. Ficcio, Bob lived a full and vibrant life marked by love, humor, and dedication.

Bob grew up attending Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska, and graduated from high school. Shortly after, he served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Known for his warm personality and great sense of humor, Bob cherished spending time with family and friends. His passions included good food, TV car shows, auctions, and RV traveling.

Bob's love story with his wife, Diana, began when they met as teenagers through her brother, Denny Lueders, and friend, Pat Thacker, during a GMC mechanic's course in Omaha. This sparked a lifelong friendship that lasted 60 years, and Bob was able to speak with both Denny and Pat before his passing. Initially, Bob married Diana's best friend, who served as maid of honor at their wedding. Years later, after a visit to Yakima, Washington, in June 1990, Bob and Diana reconnected and married. Diana's family became Bob's own, and he fit in seamlessly.

A true "car guy," Bob was also passionate about Harleys, RVs, Jeeps, guns and his 50-year career as a truck driver. His exceptional work ethic and commitment to excellence defined his professional life.

In early 2025, while returning from a winter stay at Big Bend, California, on the Colorado River, Bob became ill, delaying their travel home by five weeks. He flew home from San Jose, California, while his daughter, Monica, drove the RV, Diana and their dog, Brandy, back to Yakima. Despite his pain, Bob's faith and love for his family remained strong. It is a comfort to know he is now at peace, embraced by the Lord in Heaven and reunited with loved ones.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Diana M. Caldwell, daughter, Monica (Allen) Yost, sons, Chad (Bobbi) Goin, and Aaron (Chrissy) Goin, grandchildren, Jacob Yost, Andrew (Karly) Yost, Leah Goin (Pierce), and Evan Goin, and great-grandchildren, Ava and Ivy Yost. Bob was a kind, caring, and beloved stepbrother to Cecile Sneed Lantz, Raylene Sneed Mallon, Gail Sneed Garcia and Bradley Ray Sneed.

"There are no bad days, just some better than others."
