Seattle, WA - Peter Joseph Newstead was born October 31, 1963 at Walter Reed Military Hospital in Washington D.C to Marie Carmela and Robert Newstead. He died after a short illness, October 9, 2025 at University Hospital in Seattle, just short of his 62nd birthday.
Peter was a graduate of Eisenhower High School. After graduating with a degree in history from Whitman College he worked briefly for Bank of America and spent a year in Xi'an, China teaching English. He earned his masters in teaching at Seattle University and taught high school biology.
He loved traveling and the outdoors. He was an avid biker and skier and enjoyed kayaking. He was a voracious reader, especially of history, enjoyed jazz music and was an enthusiastic and excellent cook.
He leaves behind his beloved companion Tina Neil, two daughters, Jacqueline Newstead and Margaret Carmela Newstead, his sister, Angela Van der Meulen, brother-in-law Jorrit van der Meulen, his brother, Paul Newstead, sister-in-law Germaine Etcheverry Newstead and his mother Carmela Newstead. He also leaves behind his aunt Barbara Zondor, the extended Zondor Family, and his aunts, Frances Li Puma, Nancy Li Puma and his cousin, Matt Li Puma.
He is preceded in death by his father Robert Newstead and his sister Elizabeth Newstead.
A memorial will be held at a future date.
