Paul Anthony Lundgren Obituary

Yakima, Washington - Paul Lundgren, of Yakima, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, after a short courageous battle with a serious illness. Born in Seattle, Paul was adopted at birth by Al and Mardi Lundgren and lived most of his life in the Yakima Valley.

Diagnosed with neurofibromatosis in infancy, Paul faced lifelong developmental challenges. Despite the challenges, he lived a full and independent life. He graduated from East Valley High School in 1993 and remained an ardent Red Devil supporter for the rest of his life.

He loved sports and was a passionate Seahawks, Mariners, and UW Husky fan.

He lived for a few years with his father in Seaside, Oregon in the early 2000s, and then returned to Yakima, where he lived for the rest of his life.

Paul worked as a contract security guard for Memorial and Regional Hospitals. He then worked for nearly a decade as a contract security guard at both the eastside and westside Walmarts in Yakima. He was a dedicated employee and truly enjoyed his work, his colleagues, and the public he served.

Paul loved driving, and his family joked that he put nearly a million miles on his two "Silver Bullets," first a Toyota Tercel and then a Ford Fusion. He loved animals and was a great friend and bosom companion to his family's many dogs and cats. In addition to having a great sense of humor, a bright big smile, and a quick wit, Paul was an avid photographer and an inventive cook. He collected a wide range of memorabilia and had numerous hobbies. He loved sports, XBox, heavy metal, Sirius Radio, Ford cars, visiting his family's lake house in Idaho, connecting with friends on social media, eating jujubes, sampling local microbrews, and drinking Mountain Dew. Paul's greatest loyalty was to his family and friends. He was a devoted son, a loving brother, a kind and caring uncle to his many nieces and nephews, and a true and giving friend. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his father, Al Lundgren. He is survived by his mother, Mardi Hackett, brothers, Todd Lundgren (Eileen Vickery), Rick Lundgren (Cindy Peterson), Kyle Lundgren (Kayla), and Reid Lundgren (Ashley), their children, and a large extended family.
