Richland, WA - Dr. Norman William Moss Jr., age 93, of Richland, Washington, passed away on April 22, 2025, at Trios Health Southridge Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.

Norman was born on February 16, 1932, in Spokane, WA, to Amanda Matilda (Liljegren) Moss and Norman William Moss. Norman graduated from Pullman High School in 1950, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Washington State University in 1954, and received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Washington in 1958 and was a member of the Phi Chi medical fraternity. He completed his medical internship in St. Paul, MN.

Norman served as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963. He was a Flight Surgeon (call sign "Casper") and cared for two Marine Attack Squadrons (VMA-121 and VMA-324), serving aboard the USS Coral Sea aircraft carrier. He was stationed in Pensacola, FL, Iwakuni, Japan and Santa Ana, CA.

During his military service, he met Sandra (Sandy) Kay (Moen) Moss and they married on December 7, 1960. They were married for 31 years until her passing on July 10, 1992.

After his military service, he established his own practice, Northwest Medical Clinic, in Yakima, Washington, where he worked for many years as a Primary Care Physician. After retiring, Norman moved to Kennewick, WA. There he met and fell in love with Barbara (Barb) Kibble Moss and they married on October 7, 2017.

Norman was known for his kindness and his remarkable sense of humor. He was passionate about golfing, skiing, swimming, traveling and playing the piano by ear. He was also an avid reader, an inventor, and held two patents. Later in life, he enjoyed playing Five Crowns and Bananagrams with Barb daily and watching old episodes of Gunsmoke. He was an active member of The Living Room Community Church and was baptized in the Columbia River.

Norman is survived by his wife, Barbara Kibble Moss; his children (and their partners), Norman Moss III (Lisa), Shannon Robinson (Pete), Aaron Moss (Tish), Brian Moss (Suzanne); and Barbara's children, Kristen and Colleen Kibble. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Uriah Collins, Racheal (Jeffery) Lembeck, Emma and Peter Robinson, and Evelyn Moss; and one great-grandchild, Olivia Lembeck.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Moss; his first wife, Sandra Moss; and his son, Kevin Moss.
