Arroyo Grande, California - Mary Joanne Guthrie, 94, of Arroyo Grande, California, passed on to her.
Heavenly Father on August 6, 2025. Born February 5, 1931, in Yakima, Washington, Joanne was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Lucile (Beausoleil) Bachmeier. She had two siblings, Donald and Patricia. They were raised with a deep and faithful devotion to the Catholic Church. Joanne's faith was deep-seated in all aspects.
She studied nursing in Spokane, Washington. She got her nursing degree as an RN in 1979. She began her nursing career at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Her love of nursing flourished as she worked as Head Nurse of Maternity and the Neonatal ICU, and pioneered a lactation consultation program at the hospital.
In Spokane, she met Albert Hull. They raised their family in Midvale, Utah, and were blessed with five children. David, Brian, Marianne, Jerry, and Linda Hull.
Joanne married Jim Guthrie in 1982, and the families were blended with the addition of two daughters. Laurel and Joyce Guthrie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Donald, children David, Linda, Joyce, and grandson Joseph Schneider.
She is survived by her loving husband Jim Guthrie, sister Patricia Gamache, children Brian, Marianne, Jerry Hull, and Laurel Guthrie, also ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Yakima, WA, on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM, honoring a life defined by service, faith, and love.
