Mrs Lillian Owens Nordberg Obituary

Vancouver, WA - I arrived into this world on February 1, 1926, in Waco, Texas, the first child of Ray J. and Lillian (Row) Owens. I departed from this life of 99 years into the presence of my Savior and heavenly Father on May 6, 2025, in Vancouver, WA.

I have often said the smartest decision I made as a 17-year-old was to marry Axel H. Nordberg of Seattle, WA in Temple, Texas on August 7, 1943. The result of this union is our children, Judy (Lloyd) Goodpaster; Steve (Debby) Nordberg; Lisa (Paki) Perala; daughters of my heart, Doni (Tom) Berg and Mickey Borden.

My amazing grandchildren Lance (Tricia) Goodpaster; Tracy Goodpaster (Hans Van Volkenburg); Heidi (Kristian) Dahl: Justin Perala and Kelsey (Kylor) Neale.

My equally amazing great-grandchildren are Nick (Amanda) Goodpaster; Natalie Goodpaster; Beau and Dash Dahl; Trinity and Ashlyn Perala; and my special stepdaughter Jan Schlepp. Also, my numerous wonderful Nieces and Nephews.

My heartfelt thanks for my incredible caregivers: Margaret Procopoi; Hareta Temneanu and Marina Petra. You have taken the very best care of me! Also, thank you to the Peace Health Hospice team for their care in the last few months.

I have been preceded on my adventure by my husband, Axel; my parents; infant brother Roy Douglas; sister Billie C. Owens-Euteneier and two infant granddaughters.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice in memory of Lillian Nordberg.

Mother frequently said "I've had a Blessed Life." At 8 years of age, she answered "the call" and accepted our Lord's free gift of eternal life, following our Savior the remainder of her earthly existence. In her teens, mother, her sister, Billie and their mother performed as the "Owens Trio" singing on Christian radio broadcasts in Waco, TX during World War II. She lived in a time when hard work was a way of life, but her faith and sense of humor gave her a positive outlook on life, setting a great example for us to follow.

Mom said she was looking forward to when she could sit with her morning toast and coffee to read the paper front to back and she did! Also, completing the New York Times Crossword puzzles in INK every day. Besides being our role model, she worked at Sears (Texas), local Fruit Warehouses (the Nordberg locations of Selah and Westbrook), Burton Lockhart Accounting, AARP, Red Cross, Robertson Elementary School and was Mrs Claus at Nordstrom Yakima.

We are the blessed ones.
