Selah, WA - Leo A. Wright was born on November 3, 1935 in Balaton, Minnesota and peacefully passed on March 7, 2025.
He attended both Cle Elum and Lake Washington High School, and graduated 1954. His lifelong hobbies included cars, hunting, and fishing. He could be frequently found roaming the hills hunting, lakes and ponds for fishing, and beaches for clam digging. He served in the Navy Reserves for over 30 years. He worked for Pac-Bell Telephone Co. for 30 years until he retired and started his own telephone business. He enjoyed helping others, Leo had the gift of gab, he loved meeting old friends, making new friends and telling them stories. He was committed to community service and volunteered with FOE Eagles in Selah and Yakima spanning close to 40 years, he was the President four different times. His volunteer work also included the VFW where he helped with the meat raffle Friday nights and once a year at Indian John Hill Rest Area serving coffee & doughnuts. He was a Past Commander of the VFW.
He left behind three children, three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, plus a long-term partner. A memorial to Leo will be at the Yakima VFW, 118 S. 5th Ave., Yakima, WA 98901 on May 10, 2025 at 2:00 pm.
