Yakima, Washington - Kiann Renee Jaeger, 54, of Yakima, Washington, passed away surrounded by family on September 10, 2025.
Kiann was born in Denver, Colorado, to Raymond and Joyce Edler. Her family moved to Yakima, Washington a year later. Kiann was the fourth of five girls in the family, teaching her from an early age patience and kindness. She was an active part of the community from an early age. Whether it was showing pigs and sheep for 4-H or riding a cow in the Wiley City Rodeo, she was all in. Kiann attended West Valley High School where she was on the honor roll, cheer captain and the homecoming queen. She went on to graduate from Central Washington University with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Kiann's heart matched her radiant laugh, vast, generous, and endlessly welcoming. She cared deeply for those around her, making every person feel seen, valued, and included. Her warmth and spirit carried her through childhood and adolescence.
Kiann met the love of her life, Dan Jaeger, in 1992 and married in 1997. Together they shared many adventures, weekends away with friends and family, exploring new breweries while playing cribbage, shopping through every farmers' market, and attending any fundraiser or silent auction events that Kiann could drag Dan to. Their partnership was admired by all, a model of mutual respect, constant sense of humor, and an endless amount of love.
Kiann brought the same care, energy, and dedication to her professional life. She began her career at Nordstrom in Yakima, quickly moving up the seniority ladder, honing her skills in customer service, leadership, and management. She had the privilege of opening the first store in Dallas, TX where her and Dan lived before returning to Yakima. She spent 19 years at Yakima Orthodontics as their office manager. She seemed to have a personal connection with every patient that walked in, and her coworkers were truly family to her. She then joined her sister Kim at John I Haas, where she worked as a Sales Administrator. She quickly made strong connections with her sales team and customers alike. If you needed something done, she was the one to ask. She truly enjoyed the hop business and all the perks and fun events that come with it.
For the past 25 years, Kiann and Dan raised two remarkable children, Ashley (25) and Kyle (23), who were the center of her universe. She was a devoted and selfless mother, always ensuring her children were supported, encouraged, and celebrated. Whether attending PTA meetings, school dances, soccer games, or simply offering a comforting presence on a difficult day, Kiann's love was constant and often expressed with her signature quirky dance moves that could make anyone smile.
Kiann's generosity extended beyond family to a wide circle of lifelong friends, in particular The Squirrels and Roosevelt Rowdies. She had a rare gift for making people feel valued and understood, whether reconnecting with a childhood companion, greeting a neighbor, or welcoming someone she met through volunteering. Her friendships were enduring, built on laughter, loyalty, and shared experiences.
Her commitment to others also radiated her community. Kiann volunteered with the West Valley Fire Department Rehab unit, was a super donor at The Red Cross, and volunteered for countless community events and festivals. Her energy, enthusiasm, and willingness to say yes inspired all who crossed her path -- let it continue to inspire you.
To know Kiann was to know joy, love, and a heart that never stopped giving. She will be remembered for her remarkable ability to bring people together, her adventurous spirit, and the light she brought into every life she touched.
Kiann is survived by her husband of 28 years, Dan, her children, Ashley and Kyle, her mother, Joyce Edler, and her sisters, Dyonnie Minier, Shauna Stenwall, Rhonda Edler, and Kim Lee. She is also remembered fondly by nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were like family. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond (Butch) Edler.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, September 26, at 1:00pm at the West Valley Nazarene Church. A Celebration of Life will follow at The Harmon Center at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of Kiann to The American Red Cross or the YWCA.
