Jose Galindo Sr. Obituary

Yakima, WA - Jose Galindo Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on March 30, 2026, at 12:40am, and went to be with our Heavenly Father. He was born on May 17, 1943, in Aguililla, Michoacán, Mexico.

In his early years, José made the journey to the United States to help support his family. He first landed in Arizona and California, where he worked hard and sent money back to his parents. He later returned to Mexico to visit family and married Janet Guizar. José continued traveling between Mexico and the United States, always sending support to his wife and children.

Eventually, he settled his family in Wapato, Washington. There, he worked in farm labor throughout his life. He instilled in his children the value of hard work from a young age, and made sure they took full advantage of the education available to them. He often told them, "Don't be donkeys like me working in the fields," encouraging them to build a better future through learning and opportunity.

Dad knew no strangers. Wherever he went, he made friends easily, and everyone could feel his love. He gave the best hugs, warm and full of heart. Many of the nicknames he gave his grandchildren came from his playful inability to pronounce their names, turning it into something special and endearing.

Although our parents later divorced, they both agreed that the best thing they ever accomplished was having us five children.

Later in life, he converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he found another family and a place where he truly belonged. The family is extremely grateful to the Church for loving him and showing him the love of Christ. We are especially thankful to the Packards and the Cardons for being there for him, and we are also thankful to Owen Packard for being a genuine friend.

Daddy was hard on us kids growing up, but near the end of his life he made sure we knew how much he loved us. What gives us great comfort is remembering when he said, "If I'm not with you kids," as he touched his chest and rubbed his heart, "I will have each and every one of you kids right here in my heart. You will always be with me right here."

José's legacy lives on through his family, his unwavering work ethic, the friendships he built everywhere he went, and the love he shared so freely. If you are reading this, our daddy would want you to work hard and not be a donkey.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Antilano and Maria Galindo; his brother, Jesus Galindo; and his sister, Paola Galindo. He is survived by his three sisters, Maria Galindo, Genoveva Galindo, and Eldelmira Galindo; his two brothers, Santiago Galindo and Ramiro Galindo; his five children, Angelica Pierce (Eric), Jose Galindo, Quenia Holland (Keith), Laura Rebollero (Phillip), and Roger Galindo; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

"His Lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord." -Matthew 25:21
