Our dear husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, John Albert Jaramillo, passed away on March 6, 2025, at the age of 61. He was born on November 24, 1963, in La Habra, California, to Albert Jaramillo and Joanie Henning.
John's mother, Joanie, had a profound influence on his life, especially in fostering his love for music. Over the years, John attended countless concerts and curated a framed collection of live concert tickets. His admiration for Bob Dylan's unique style left a lasting mark on his own singing voice. John also had a deep appreciation for gospel music and was known to perform impromptu gigs, even once playing his guitar on a train in Europe. His love for drama and performing was evident, with his bubbly personality making him a natural fit for the stage.
At the age of 15, John's family moved to Yakima, Washington, following the tragic loss of his younger brother, George, in 1978. It was during this difficult time that John turned to Jesus Christ through faith, finding strength and hope in the Lord. This pivotal moment in his life led him to participate in Teen Missions, where he served for three summers. His grandmother's influence ignited his passion for food, and he became a creative and experimental cook who loved exploring different cuisines.
John's zest for life was contagious. He embraced each moment with enthusiasm and shared his joy with everyone around him. His caring and kind-hearted nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him. After completing nursing school in Yakima, John moved to Seattle, where he worked as a dialysis nurse at Virginia Mason Hospital. It was there that he met his first wife, Teresa, and they had three beautiful children together. John later moved to the UW Medical Center Montlake, where he worked in the operating room specializing in gynecology.
John loved spending time in the great outdoors. His hobbies included hiking, swimming, and riding his bike. Spring was his favorite season, and he cherished the fresh air and vibrant flowers it brought. A little over four years ago, John met Fiona Starr, and they were married shortly thereafter. Together, they shared a love for travel and created lasting memories exploring the world.
A man of deep faith, John's ultimate aim in life was to serve the Lord.
John is preceded in death by mother Joan Henning, son Dylan and grandparents Lille and Morris.
John is survived by his loving wife, Fiona; children George and Jill; stepdaughter Shannon James; grandchild Dylan; parents, Albert and Shannon; and brothers, Aaron and Andrew. He will be forever remembered for his warmth, laughter and love for Jesus and the grace found in him.
We remember John as a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and gave joy to all those around him. He will be deeply missed. May he rest in peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us all to live life with the same love and passion he did.
