Yakima, WA - John Edward Andreas, 96 years old passed away July 16, 2025.

John was born at home west of Wapato on March 4, 1929 to Anthony F. Andreas and Flora (Zimmerman) Andreas. He was raised and went to school in Wapato.

In 1945, John joined the Merchant Marines and 1948 he joined the US Army and served 4 years. He served 3 1/2 of those 4 years in Germany.

On April 18,1953, he married Edna Mae Struchtemeyer. They were married 72 years and blessed with 7 wonderful children.

John worked for 34 years at Associated Grocers in Union Gap as a truck driver. He was also an orchardist with the help of his family.

His love for his family came first.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Edna, 3 daughters: Frances Andreas, Lorena (Henry) Stover and Jean Andreas and 2 sons: Robert Andreas & Lee (Valorie) Andreas.

John has 7 grandchildren: Thomas Stover, Cassandra Fritz, Aaron Stover, Amanda Hangge, Samantha Fleischer, Lane Andreas and John T. Andreas. In addition, there are 8 great grandchildren: Kairi and Monty Fritz, Taylor and Landyn Stover, Iyla Stover, Annabell and Abram Hangge, and Everly Grace Fleischer.

John was preceded in death by his sons: John Andreas, Jr. and Gary Andreas, his parents, sisters: Mary Henke, Edith Oswalt, Wilhelmina (Willie) King, along with 2 brothers: Joe Andreas and Anthony Andreas.
