Jody Lionel Hurst Obituary

Selah, WA - Jody Lionel Hurst, 87, of Selah, Washington, passed away on November 11, 2025.

Jody was a man who lived life entirely on his own rhythm -- steady, strong-willed, and full of sharp wit. He had a rugged independence that defined him, shaped by a lifetime of hard work and the stories that came from it. Though he held many jobs over the years, he spent the largest part of his career in real estate, proudly operating Jody Hurst & Associates, a true family business, during its time. Before that, he worked for Larson Fruit and took on a variety of endeavors he remembered with remarkable fondness. Every chapter of his life gave him a new story to tell -- usually delivered with humor, a raised eyebrow, and a perfectly timed punchline.

Jody had an unmatched ability to make people laugh at things they probably shouldn't, thanks to his cleverness and quick wit. You always had to be ready for one of his comments -- sharp, funny, and just mischievous enough to keep everyone on their toes.

Even in his final moments, Jody stayed true to himself -- offering his familiar blend of wit, honesty, and perfectly timed humor. He found small ways to lighten the room, tease the people he loved, and leave those around him smiling. He gave us moments of laughter even when our hearts were heavy.

He loved music, dancing, driving, traveling, and good food -- simple pleasures he embraced with genuine joy. He never met a stranger, greeting everyone with an easy charm that made them feel instantly welcome. Whether you knew him for years or just met him in passing, Jody had a way of sticking with you.

Jody will be deeply missed for his humor, his grit, his stories, and the fierce love he held for his family.

Jody is survived by his four children, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and an extended family that includes beloved stepchildren.

A Celebration Of Jody's Life will be held on his birthday, December 3, 2025, at the Kameo Flower Shop Event Center, located at 31 N. 1st Ave, Yakima, WA 98902, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the man who brought so much laughter and spirit into our lives.
