Wapato, Washington - It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of James Aubrey Mayhue, also fondly known as Aubrey, who left us on February 23, 2026. Born on June 16, 1940, in Earle, Arkansas, James Aubrey spent his life dedicated to his family, his faith, and his beloved horses.
James Aubrey, a compassionate soul, was a beacon of resilience and love throughout his life. He dedicated over 30 years of his life working in the lumber mill industry, retiring from Boise Cascade in Yakima, Washington, in 2003. His devotion to his work was only surpassed by his love for his family and his religion. His resilience in the face of adversity was a testament to his strength and an inspiration to those who knew him. As Mother Teresa once said, "A life not lived for others, is not a life," and James Aubrey embodied this sentiment fully.
James Aubrey is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Pamela Mayhue, his sons, Jim and Steve Mayhue, his daughters, Leilani Baruz-Austin, Sarah, and Rachelle Mayhue, and his ten grandchildren, Stevie, Sydney, Lilly, Gracie, Arya, Abbie, Ethan, Dylan, Dexter, and Ayden, along with his great-granddaughter, Penelope. He is also survived by his family member, Kenny Elkington. He is preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Ella Mayhue.
A Viewing will be held in honor of his life on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 4:00pm PST at Brookside Funeral Home & Crematory in Moxee, Washington. The funeral service will follow on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 11:00am PST at the same location.
