Yakima, WA - Jack was born in Cawker City, Kansas on January 6, 1934, to Merritt Connard Clements and Gladys (Buddy) Eva Moore.
He passed away on September 1, 2025.
The family moved to Washington state in 1940 and settled in the Yakima Valley. Jack received his early education from the Toppenish School District, then enlisted in the United States Navy in 1954. While in the Navy, he received his GED. He served aboard the U.S.S. Ozbourn as a boilerman, near the end of the Korean War, and was fortunate enough to visit many places across the world. He was honorably discharged in 1958.
Jack met Shirley Swymeler on December 1, 1958 on a blind date at a local high school basketball game. They fell in love and were married June 6, 1959, spending 66 years together.
Truly a "jack-of-all-trades," Jack was a dedicated, hardworking family man. His resume included farming, metal fabrication at Jerry's Steel in Sunnyside, custodian and bus driver for the Glenwood School District, millwright/fabricator at Kenasco Inc, and later at the Hanford nuclear site. He retired in 1994.
In his free time, Jack enjoyed hunting for deer and elk, fishing, horseback riding, and camping and traveling with family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandkids and was an awesome Gramps.
