Gary Andrew Beehler Obituary

Yakima, Washington - Gary Andrew Beehler was born on August 16th, 1960 in Yakima, Washington to Barbara and Fred Beehler. He passed away on September 7th, 2025 at MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital after a short struggle with several aggressive forms of cancer.

Gary was a high achiever. Always. He was an accomplished singer and a talented musician as well as being a natural athlete. He loved jazz music, played the cello, and additionally sang in numerous choirs throughout his life. He was a gifted student who excelled academically. Gary truly was the best at whatever he chose to be good at.

After graduating from A.C. Davis High School in Yakima, Gary pursued a demanding course of study in college. Ultimately, he decided to become a physician and followed the unconventional path of osteopathy. Gary deeply valued and adhered to the central tenets of osteopathy -- the body is a unit, self-healing, the interrelationship of structure and function, and rational treatment.

Gary and his then-wife, Joyce, lived in multiple communities across the country ranging from Portland, Oregon to Toledo, Ohio, with many stops in between, while he completed his medical training. When they settled in Oregon, Gary served as the doctor at the local football games which allowed him to give back to the football community he really loved. Along the way, they welcomed into their lives two children, Kiah in 1987 and Kalila in 1991.

Later in life, Gary again took on another challenging and ambitious career -- the culinary arts. He was a trained chef and a student of food service logistics.

Gary helped manage restaurants in Seattle and Yakima and staffed catering events throughout the Northwest. He especially enjoyed his role at Panera training customer service staff throughout the region while mentoring younger generations. That was, and they were, very important to him.

Gary was a follower of Christ and a devote student of scripture. At a younger age, Gary was an acolyte and was always a very active member in his church community, singing in family choir at contemporary service and reading scripture at services.

Gary is survived by his mom Barbara, his children Kiah and Kalila (Kai), his brothers Jeff and Randy (Susan), nieces Daphne and Hannah, nephew Christopher (Luisa), and many other family members and friends.

A service for Gary will be held at 11:00 am on September 25th at Central Lutheran Church in Yakima. A reception at the church will follow the service.
