Gail Emerson Woodhouse Obituary

Yakima, WA - Gail Emerson Woodhouse passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025 in Yakima Washington.

He was born in Yakima to Clark & Helen Woodhouse and grew up in the Ahtanum/Wiley City area.

Gail was proud to serve our country during World War II in Adak, Alaska. Upon his return, he met Neva Torson and they were married for 76 years.

Dad would later go to work for FMC (Food Machinery Chemical Corporation) which would later become Agri Tech. He loved welding and working on machinery, running a lath and milling machine. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix when it came to iron work. Farmers around the area would bring broken equipment to have dad fix them or make a new part. He was so talented with iron and made so many things for my mom and myself. He also loved to farm and had many tractors and different farm equipment and raised alfalfa.

Upon retirement he and my mom would travel the United States and many different countries. Later they would become snowbirds, spend the winters in Arizona, play desert golf, play his fiddle and harmonicas.

Dads love for music became a huge part of his life in Arizona and back home in Yakima. He had made many friends in both states who loved music. When he was in Yakima, they would get together for potlucks to play music, go to different nursing homes and even played at Naches Valley Days. He loved every minute of it and made many friends over the years.

Gail is preceded in death by his wife Neva Woodhouse, parents Clark and Helen Woodhouse and nephew Robert Torson.

He is survived by his daughter Mary (Don) Adkins, sister Jill (Sandy) Rogers, nieces Joyce (Dan) Schiffelbein, René (Marvin) Connatser, Delores (Ron) Cooper, Vicki Torson, great nephew Lee (Cherie) Torson, great nieces Chris Cooper, Debra (Ed) Hemp.

Many thanks to all the people who helped care for dad. Family, friends, neighbors, Landmark Staff and Hospice- it takes a village to care for your loved ones.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 11:00am at West Hills Memorial Park. Brookside Funeral Home is caring for the family. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.brooksidefuneral.com.
