Edward "Ed" Joseph Kish Obituary

Yakima, WA - Edward Joseph Kish, 82, of Yakima, Washington passed away on October 15, 2024, after a courageous 30-year battle with cancer. Ed was born on November 30, 1941, in Washville, Illinois, to Andrew and Anna Kish.

He grew up enjoying life on the farm hunting squirrels and fishing in a nearby river. When he was 10 his nephew, George, was born and Ed became like a big brother to George, spending many happy days together making memories!

Ed proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. Army life brought him to Yakima, where Ed enjoyed taking Eddie and Tracey (and later Russ) hiking, camping, fishing and hunting. When Mount Saint Helens blew, he and his nephew, George, wrote Saint Helens (Queen of the three) and country farm.

Ed did the hunting and fishing report on a local news station for several years. Ed love to fly and was fortunate to be able to take Eddie and Tracey on trips in a plane he piloted. Later, after Eddie started flying, Ed enjoyed a trip or two with Eddie. Ed loved taking the grands on their first fishing trip. He took Ben on his first turkey hunt, and Ben shot a big one. Ed also enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with his son-in-law, Russ. Ed was able to get a couple moose hunts in BC, as well as a bear hunt. He liked cutting trees and saying "l'm a logger." Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, gardening, building, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Ed loved talking about baseball with Eddie and stocks with Tracey.

Ed is survived by his wife of 23 years, Kim, his sister, Mary Lou Petrunich, his son, Edward Andrew Kish, his daughter, Tracey Lynn Skinner (Russ), his steps, Michelle Vasale and Jeffery Jenkins (Jess), his grandchildren, including steps, Benjamin Skinner, Anna Skinner, Jace, Kiara, Jeffery Jr., and Dean Jenkins. He is also survived by his nephews, George Riecan (Peggie), Mike Petrunich (Arlene), John (Amy) Svetlik, nieces Carol Kulek (Greg), Jeanie (Phil) Otten, Kathy (Ed) Finnegan, and numerous grand nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 12:00-6:00pm, at his home (13544 Summitview Road). Come and swap stories of Ed with all! Food will be served. Hope to see you there!
