Yakima, Washington - Edna Faye McIntosh, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, 91, of Selah, WA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 8, 2025, at Summitview Healthcare Center, Yakima, WA.
Edna was born on January 15, 1934, in Roy, Missouri, to Jessie Earl Robbins and Eula Marie Cox. She was the baby, blessed with two older sisters and two older brothers. Edna's education was in a country school in Ava. Edna met the love of her life, Elmer McIntosh, and they were married on July 2, 1949. They owned and worked on their small dairy farm in Ava Missouri where they and their first three children, Leon, Butch, and Alyce, lived until they sold and relocated to Washington State in 1957. She and her family lived in Naches, WA for the first few years, eventually moving to Selah and making that their home. In 1962 they welcomed another daughter, Gail, making their family complete.
Edna was a wonderful cook and hosted all the family holiday gatherings. She also enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables and always had a big garden. Edna's true passion was quilting; she made beautiful quilts for all her family and friends to treasure. She also loved to travel and spent time traveling with her dear friend/family, Sue Hiatt, after their husbands had passed.
Edna worked for Zirkle Fruit company for nearly 30 years where she made many lasting friendships. Retiring from Zirkle Fruit in 2000 didn't slow her down, she volunteered for the Shares Program in Selah giving food and clothing to the needy, worked many night shifts at Indian John rest stop handing out coffee and goodies to people passing through, she took care of grandchildren, and when her husband became ill she stayed by his side and was always strong for the rest of the family. Her greatest joy was time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Edna is survived by her four children: Leon (Beverly) McIntosh, Butch (Dawna) McIntosh, Alyce (Todd) Lounsbury, and Gail (Bruce) Hiatt, Seven grandchildren: Dewayne (Tina) McIntosh, Lee (Jane) McIntosh, Jerry (Jenny) McIntosh, Holley Gilmer, Nathan Hiatt, Justin (Hannah) Lounsbury: Jessica (Gar) Chapman; One very dear granddaughter in law: Linda (Jerry) McIntosh-Cubberley; Sixteen great grandchildren; Tyler (Cassidy) McIntosh, Matthew McIntosh, Aleah McIntosh, Jamie McIntosh, Ian Schmidt, Isaac Schmidt, Taigen Lounsbury, Georgia Lounsbury, Christian Hertel, Emily (Jake) Sullins, John (Teresa) McIntosh, Garin Chapman, Ellie Chapman, Peyton Chapman, Whitney Chapman and Donald Lawrence; last but not least, 7 great-great grandchildren; Peyton McIntosh, Maren McIntosh, Dallas McIntosh, Everlee Hale, Isaiah Hertel, Clayton McIntosh, Johnathan (AKA Ziggy) McIntosh.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Eula, her brothers, Carl Robbins, wife Louise, Clyde Robbins, wife Margaret, her sisters, Jo Englehardt, husband Earl, Betty Englehardt, husband Carl, beloved husband of 57 years, Elmer McIntosh, two grandchildren, Steven McIntosh, and Renee Hertel and one grandson in law, Miles Hertel.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all the staff at Summitview Healthcare Center for taking such loving care of mom for the past 7 months. It truly takes a special person to care for people who cannot care for themselves and the staff at Summitview Healthcare Center are those people.
Though she is gone, her love and strength will continue through those she left behind.
An viewing for Edna will be held Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 West Yakima Ave, Yakima, WA 98902. A Celebration of Life will occur Friday, October 3, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Keith & Keith Funeral Home.
