San Tan Valley, Arizona - Dorothy Mae Wakefield (Dot) passed away peacefully on April 22, 2024. Surrounded by her family. Dot was born in Yakima, WA on June 13, 1928 to Charles and Edna Johnson. Dot had an older sister Florance Smith. Dot lived in Yakima where she meet her husband Harold Wakefield on March 29, 1947. Lived in Yakima where their first daughter Linda Marie Snyder was born in 1948. Dot worked as a meat wrapper until 1956 when Dot and her family moved to Moses Lake. WA. Dot had her second daughter Mary Estelle Nye, born in 1957. In 1961 Dot with her family moved to Oregon. Dot was a stay at home mom after that. In 1970 Harold moved Dot and Mary to Brinnon, WA. And lived on the Dosewallups River. In 2004, Dot and Ed agreed to move to Bend, OR to live with their daughter Mary and her husband Bill or (Mr Bill) as Dot called him. Dot enjoyed getting out in the yard, she loved pulling weeds, visiting with friends, neighbors and family. Dot and Harold never missed Tottie Time and enjoyed watching the Seahawks and Mariners games. In 2018 Bill and Mary moved with Dot to San Tan Valley, Az, where she lived with Mary and Bill until her death. Dot was preceded in death by her sister Florance Smith and her husband Harold Wakefield. Dot is survived by her daughters Linda Snyder, husband Walt VanHooser, Mary Nye, husband Bill Nye, 7 grandchildren, Andrea Wendling, Mike Nye, wife Anna, Rick Nye, wife Kelli, Dave Nye, wife Jamie, Haley Lane, husband Brian and Heather VanHooser, 15 great grandkids, 7 great great grandkids, all of which she loved and enjoyed seeing. She will be greatly missed!!! A celebration of life will be held on September 13th at the VFW Hall, Yakima, Wa at 3:30 pm. Her family would love you see anyone that would wish to stop by!!
