Barbara Brost Obituary

Ellensburg, WA - Our incredible mother, Barbara Brost, passed on November 18, 2025. Her family was with her as she joined her beloved husband, Earl.

She was born in Blackfoot Idaho on November 2, 1930. She was raised by George and Minnie Iva Jackson Ezell. She spent many happy hours riding horses growing up in Idaho. She always shared happy stories from her early years before graduating from Blackfoot High School.

In 1949, she married Earl Brost and started a love story lasting until his death in 2020. They worked together all their lives. They owned a restaurant, farmland and rental properties; always working side by side building a future for their family. Mom also worked for the state of Washington as a brand inspector.

Barbara was always involved in the community. She was the first woman president of the Toppenish Chamber of Commerce and organized the Toppenish Pow Wow and Rodeo Indian Village for many, many years. She and our dad were incredibly proud when the Toppenish Rodeo Association named their arena after them. She was a past Toppenish Woman of the Year and with dad, a recipient of the Toppenish Lifetime Achievement Award. She was a leader in Beta Sigma Phi and many other organizations. We were so incredibly proud of all she accomplished and contributed to our community over the years.

Our family spent many happy weekends at the property in Packwood and over the years they enjoyed traveling to California with their many friends.

In addition to her husband, Earl, Barbara was predeceased by her parents, George and Minnie Iva Jackson Ezell, and brothers Nacy Ezell, Guy Ezell and Robert Ezell.

She is survived by her daughters Casey Johnson (Michael) and Kathy Parrish (Curtis), grandchildren Dustin Johnson (Daniella), Cody Johnson (Lonneke), Joleen Smith (Joel) and great grandchildren Wyatt and Mykah Johnson, Maeve and Benjamin Johnson and Sandra Parrish and her two sons, Damon and Greyson. She is also survived by treasured nieces and nephews and her bonus daughter, Barb Moses.

We wish to express our gratitude to our Grace Manor Family in Ellensburg and the team at KVH Hospice. All of you were a huge blessing. We are so thankful for the loving care at Grace Manor. Our souls were at peace knowing you were caring for our mom.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Mom & Dad's passion, The Toppenish Rodeo and Livestock Association, P. O. Box 127, Toppenish, WA 98948.
