Yakima, WA - Anthony Pasquel Velasquez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on June 6, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Yakima, Washington. He was 83 years old.
Born on March 2, 1942, in Phoenix, Arizona, Anthony, also know as Tony by many, was raised in Yakima, Washington, where he developed a strong connection to his community and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Velasquez Sr. and Barbara Grajeda, siblings, Jeanie Castillo Lemos and Alice Hague and wife of many years, Esther Velasquez.
Anthony is survived by his daughters, Kim Dauenhauer, Debbie VanCampen, and Felicia Saldana. He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories with his grandchildren, Nicole, Justin, Brandi, Alex, Armando, Juliana, and Prescilla, as well as his great-grandchildren, Aiden, Kennedy, and Leiland. His living siblings include Richard Velasquez, Tina Valenzuela, Helen Hughes, Sonya Johnson, Michelle Velasquez, Tara Hilton, and Bobby Jo.
Anthony retired from the City of Yakima, where he dedicated his career to serving his community. He was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying boxing at the YMCA under Harvey Hunt, coaching little league baseball, and watching his favorite teams, especially the Mariners. He cherished memories of attending Davis High School basketball games with his brother.
In his free time, Anthony loved gardening, spending time with his family, and was an avid, avid fisherman (from catching minnows to salmon). His hobbies brought him joy and peace, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family invites friends and loved ones to share their memories and celebrate Anthony's life. A funeral service will be held on June 8th at 10am at St Joseph's, and a reception following at Shaw and Sons, where friends and family can gather to share stories and pay tribute to his memory. Potluck items are welcome.
